Why Track Your Rowing Sessions?
Consistent tracking turns isolated workouts into a clear picture of progress. Whether you row three times a week or every day, a logbook helps you spot patterns, celebrate milestones, and stay motivated. Here is what to look for in your data:
What Metrics Matter Most?
- Average watts over time — this is the single best indicator of fitness improvement. If watts trend upward at the same stroke rate, you are getting stronger.
- Split consistency — look at how uniform your splits are across sessions of similar distance. Consistent pacing shows improved race readiness.
- Volume (total meters) — weekly and monthly meter totals show training load. The Concept2 logbook community tracks seasonal meter challenges for motivation.
- Stroke rate vs power — producing the same watts at a lower stroke rate means improved efficiency. This often indicates better technique.
How to Spot Improvement
Progress in rowing is rarely linear. You might see a fast improvement in the first few months, followed by slower gains. The trend chart in this logbook smooths out day-to-day variation so you can see the overall direction. Look for:
- Watts trending upward over 4-8 week blocks
- Split times getting faster at the same perceived effort
- Heart rate dropping for the same power output (if you track HR)
- Personal bests being set in test pieces or races
Data Privacy
This logbook stores all data in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to any server. No account is needed. The trade-off is that clearing your browser data will delete your logbook. We recommend exporting to CSV periodically as a backup.
